THE VANGUARD NEXUS CONCEPT

Vanguard Nexus was conceived by our placement specialists after years of seeing far too many top-flight professionals
- remain unemployed because they do not possess the tools for self-promotion.
- remain employed with a company longer than is advantageous to their career path because they can not afford the time to conduct a search.

The unemployed have been told by career counselors to "network". That may be fine if you were in sales or product development and made a great many contacts while on your last job. Of course if you were researching back in the lab or designing the latest product or crunching numbers, chances are good your network is pretty small. You’re left to contact the photocopier repairperson, the husbands or children of you mother’s bridge club, the father’s of your son’s little league teammates, or maybe your golf buddies. And who doesn’t love letting everyone know that after years with your company, giving your best, you just got downsized, right-sized, restructured, bought, merged, laid off or any one of a dozen other terms that euphemistically mean axed from your job?


Or perhaps you’re still working on the dead-end job. Don’t procrastinate. If you are not being appreciated for your contributions, being given appropriate advancements in position and compensation, the situation is unlikely to change on its own. Yes, you can find a million excuses for staying, not the least of which is an uncertain job market in what is perhaps a shrinking industry, but to wait for something to happen to improve you current circumstances is risky and before you realize it your prime career development years will have passed you by.

VANGUARD NEXUS FIRST CONTACT SERVICES ARE


  • For the person who realizes that the commonly used method of sending out hundreds of resumes and then hoping to get a call is a totally ineffective job search method, but up until now the only one available.

  • For the person who is currently employed who would like to move forward on his career track but doesn't have the time during the work day to make "networking" calls and might jeopardize his current position by making such calls.

  • For the job seeker who simply can't make cold calls or who is not comfortable promoting or "selling himself".

  • For the person, employed or unemployed, who realizes that he is best promoted by a 3rd party professional with over 20 years of experience in "selling people".

  • For the person who wants to recruit or "headhunt" his next employer

THE VANGUARD NEXUS PROCESS


· 1. We will prepare your resume so it acts as a true selling tool. This means a flawlessly written two-page resume in a feature/benefits format... because anyone who has ever sold any product (and in this case the product is you) knows that features alone do not sell, but the benefits from those features must be clearly stated.

· 2. We will assist you in generating a targeted list of qualified companies within your industry and personal parameters who can appreciated your credentials and experience along with the name and phone number of the actual decision maker or hiring authority within your division. Heads of or HR or personnel do not count as contact names and will not be considered hiring managers.

· 3. We will prepare the perfect, concise, 60- second sales presentation and then make the confidential introductory and inquiry calls to the hiring authorities, making them aware of your talents, your interest in their organization and your ability to contribute to their company’s goals.

· 4. We will strive to stimulate enough interest in your credentials in each call for that hiring manager to personally request your resume. For those hiring authorities who do request a resume we will write a cover letter that resells you and reinforces the original cold call.

· 5. We will follow-up the resume with a re-sale phone call and attempt to set up a telephone meet and chat interview between you and the hiring authority.


At this point Vanguard Nexus will have no further personal dealings with the interested company but will concentrate their efforts on you.


· 6. We will prepare you for a successful telephone meet and greet interview, assisting you with researching the company and the hiring authority to find information which can be used toward conducting an impressive and stimulating conversation aimed towards getting the invitation for a face to face meeting. You will be coached on identifying the hiring authority’s needs and quickly converting your skills and past experience into meeting those needs. Preparation is key to success as this will be your first personal contact and first impressions are critical. We will de-brief you after the interview so that together we can glean all pertinent information whether or not you achieved the appointment for the personal interview.

· 7. We will prepare you for a successful personal interview with the prospective company and all that entails from the way you present yourself to how you conduct the direction of the interview itself.


8. We will debrief you after the interview to ascertain all salient points discussed and prepare for you a re-sell follow up letter stressing your strong points and minimizing any perceived short falls, accentuating your interest in the company and the position, moving you towards the request for a second and final interview.

You will take over each negotiation from this point on using what you have learned throughout your work with Vanguard Nexus to close the hiring company and get the job offer.


WHAT VANGUARD NEXUS IS NOT

  • We do not do extensive and expensive career testing, evaluation, guidance or defining of career paths.

  • We do not work with new graduates or people aspiring to total career change, only experienced professionals
    seeking to advanced in their field and industry.

  • We will not knowingly make false claims on behalf of our clients, or present them in any misleading way to potential employers as to work or academic credentials.

  • We will not pressure you to take any offer, do salary negotiations, "close" or do any negotiations with the potential employer beyond the scope of the introductory process as described.

  • We will not make empty claims or promises... we do not have some special access to high-paying jobs or - knowledge of job markets no one else has or access to a some special set of headhunters.
